Abstract:

In this talk, Prof. Tong will describe two of the biggest unsolved problems in physics. Why are quarks trapped inside protons and neutrons? And what is turbulence? Along the way, he will discuss what it means for physicists to understand something.

About the Speaker:

David Tong is a theoretical physicist at the University of Cambridge. He has held research positions at many universities worldwide, including TIFR in Mumbai. He works on quantum field theory and has applied this in areas ranging from cosmology, to the physics of materials, to pure mathematics. He is the author of multiple lecture notes covering different areas of physics.
