The physical biology group focusses on understanding biological systems from a physical viewpoint. The methods of classical statistical physics and soft condensed matter physics are our primary tools. We are interested in mechanobiology, physics of the actomyosin cytoskeleton, active matter, mechanochemical pattern formation as relevant to morphogenetic processes in developing embryos...etc.

Our group has strong collaborations with the Simons Centre and several experimental groups at the National Centre for Biological Sciences.
