The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research centre under the aegis of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, is looking for suitable candidates for the following positions at its Bangalore office.
1. Engineer ‘C’ (Electrical) {Unreserved}
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- BE or B. Tech (Electrical engineering) with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.
- Two (2) years experience in handling HT yard, HT/ LT equipments like transformer, vacuum and air circuit breakers, DG sets, maintenance of protective and controlling switch gears, distribution system, motor and Power Control Centres, etc.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Candidate should have experience in independently handling the electrical works; operation and maintenance of UPS systems and other HT/LT installations.
- Familiarity with use of computers and experience in estimation of quantity, preparation of tender documents, bills and measurement books etc.
- Candidates should have good communication and documentation skills.
Job Profile: The job profile involves planning ,designing, erection, testing, commissioning and maintenance of all electrical installations like lighting, power distribution (HT/ LT transformers), DG set, Fire Alarm system, UPS and other electrical systems in accordance with relevant standards.
Scale of Pay: PB 3 (Rs. 15600 – 39100/-) with Grade Pay Rs. 5400/-

2. Scientific Officer ‘C’ {Reserved for OBC}
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- BE or ME (Computer Science/Computer Engineering) with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience/exposure in system administration.
- Working knowledge and experience in
(a) administration of large networks of Linux and Windows desktops and servers as well as all the associated services.
(b) designing and maintenance of web servers and web based collaboration tools.
(c) fluency in relevant programming languages for carrying out the jobs mentioned at (a) and (b).
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate course in System Administration, OS, Ethernet and wireless LAN network, System Security, Data backup system.
- Working knowledge and experience of Web based Audio-Visual content delivery, Data Centre infrastructure management and monitoring Server management, Hands on experience in maintaining a medium size HPC setup
- Candidates should have good communication and documentation skills.
Job Profile:
The job profile involves providing technical support in maintaining desktop computer systems and network. Support includes installation and support of the operating system on desktop computer and server; configuration of network and performing routine maintenance on software; liaison with hardware & software vendors and with ISPs as and when required. Application level support to all desktop users. Setting up Video conferencing. Exposure to audio/video processing will be an added advantage. Maintenance includes periodic update of existing network and systems; maintaining/ managing the internal network, documentation of services & software being used. Skills to deploy and update open source software packages are desirable

The post is tenable at Bangalore, but is liable to be transferred to the Institute’s headquarters at Mumbai or any other field stations.
