DATE & TIME
21 November 2011 to 26 November 2011

Hotel in Mangalore

Different aspects of ancient India have been studied by several separate groups on their own with restricted interaction between like-minded scientists. Interdisciplinary interactions have been few and far apart. This has restricted the scope of cross subject studies. In addition, instrumentation facilities in archaeology in India are also woefully inadequate.

To bridge this gap between scientists and the experimental needs of the future, a mini Program on "Future of the Past" is being organized. Experts from different areas will come together on a common platform and try to evolve a strategy for the future path of archaeological studies in India. The focus of the Program will be to discuss the instrumentation needs of the future in the field of archaeology and related fields and the manner in which they can be acquired.

The format of the Program is the following. The morning sessions are devoted to presentations by experts in the field. Afternoons are devoted to demonstrations of available technology, including advanced computing techniques used. The evening sessions start at 1715 hrs. Participants are encouraged to meet in small groups for further in-depth discussions which can go on as long as they wish.

Participation in the Program is by invitation only.

FOR THE INVITED PARTICIPANTS

Participants who have been requested to make presentations are required to submit their papers in Microsoft readable format (.doc or .docx format and *NOT* .pdf format) latest by 20th September 2011.
