The Bangalore Mathematics Teachers’ Circle (BMTC) is a space to nurture a problem-solving and inquiry-driven mathematical culture among school teachers. Its primary objective is to help teachers engage more deeply with mathematics by working together on rich and thought-provoking problems. This engagement aims to strengthen teachers’ confidence and develop the skills needed to facilitate similar learning experiences in their own classrooms. In particular, the programme seeks to prepare in-service and pre-service school teachers to guide open-ended mathematical discussion, especially when students pose questions that do not have immediate or standard answers.

The programme is conducted in collaboration with Maths Circle India, Azim Premji University, the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India), and St. Joseph’s University. The initiative has also benefited from consultations with coordinators of similar programmes at IIT Palakkad and HBCSE, Mumbai.

BMTC is designed as a continuing programme rather than a one-off workshop. Teachers interested in participating may register by filling out this form. Sessions will be held at a central location within Bangalore, making them accessible to teachers across the city. Participation is by invitation only.
