DATE & TIME
22 May 2024
VENUE
Madhava Lecture Hall

Join us for a one-day hybrid symposium as we delve into the groundbreaking discoveries from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and the extended ROentgen Survey with an Imaging Telescope Array (eROSITA). This first-of-its-kind-in-India event will have eminent scientists from these large collaborations, talking about these surveys, offering an opportunity to explore the frontiers of research in cosmology and large-scale structures of the Universe.

The symposium is aimed at looking at the latest revelation concerning the mysteries of dark energy, new constraints of neutrinos, the latest map of the large-scale structure of the universe, and unveiling an all-sky catalogue of the largest virialized objects in our Universe shining brightly in X-Rays. These two latest and largest surveys bring unique insights into the formation and evolution of galaxies, the distribution of matter on cosmic scales, and the elusive nature of dark matter.

Rarely in the history of astroparticle physics and cosmology have results come out of two large surveys within the span of a few weeks, i.e DESI's unprecedented optical spectroscopic surveys and eROSITA's deep X-ray observations, giving complementary and competing information on some of the most profound enigmas of our cosmos. We invite you to embrace this unique opportunity to learn about contemporary cosmology research, engage in related scientific discourse, and forge new connections in our quest to understand our Universe.

ICTS is committed to building an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory and welcoming of diverse individuals. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.
