VENUE
Madhava Lecture Hall, ICTS Bengaluru

The ICTS Astrophysics & Relativity group will organize a Study Hub of the Gravitational Wave Open Data Workshop 2024 at the ICTS campus. The workshop will include a set of lectures followed by hands-on tutorial sessions. Participants will get to learn state-of-the-art data analysis tools used by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration to detect and analyze the gravitational wave signals from compact binary mergers.

The workshop is only open to individuals residing in the Bangalore area; ICTS is unable to provide accommodation. There will be shuttle buses available from IISc to ICTS and back.

Eligibility: The workshop is meant for postgraduate and PhD students interested in GW astronomy and related fields. A small number of highly motivated undergraduate students will also be considered. Participants are expected to know programming in Python and have a basic understanding of time-series analysis and statistical methods. Some background in gravitational wave astronomy is preferred.

ICTS is committed to building an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory and welcoming of diverse individuals. We especially encourage the participation of women and other under-represented groups.
