- Course 2: Gravitational astronomy (B. S. Sathyaprakash)
- GW Detection: Signal detection theory, Matched filtering, template placement • Parameter estimation: Bayesian inference, covariance matrix, MCMC, nested sampling, model selection • Testing GR from GW observations: Parameterized post-Newtonian tests, tests of no-hair theorem • Cosmology from GW observations: Standard sirens, Cosmological parameter estimation • Astrophysics from GW observations: Introduction to population synthesis, constraining population synth models from GW observations • Neutron star physics from GW observations: Calculation of the tidal deformability of neutron stars, Its measurement from GW observations.
- Course 3: Black hole perturbation theory (Emanuele Berti)
- Black hole stability and perturbation theory, Geodesic stability, the wave equation and critical phenomena, Quasinormal modes: definition, calculation and excitation by infalling particles, Black hole mergers in numerical relativity and black hole spectroscopy, Astrophysics and tests of general relativity with binary mergers.
The first course will consists of ten lectures (90 minutes each in the morning session) and ten tutorials (90 minutes each in the afternoon session). The second course will consist of five lectures and five tutorials, and the third course will consist of five lectures and five tutorials.
