The Indian Physics Association awarded the N. S. Satya Murthy Memorial Award in Physics – 2024 to ICTS’s Professor Anupam Kundu. The award is given to a scientist below the age of 40 years in recognition of outstanding contributions to the growth of physics in India. It is the second time someone from ICTS has received this award after Prof. R Loganayagam in 2022.
N.S. Satya Murthy, known for his research in molecular reaction dynamics, was the head of the Nuclear Physics Division at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. This award was instituted in his memory in 1992 by his colleagues.
Professor Kundu’s research interests span a number of topics, including hydrodynamics, transport in low dimensional systems, entropy production, active particle systems, stochastic processes, large deviations and finite size effects, and interacting many-particle systems.
“On behalf of everyone at ICTS, warm congratulations to Anupam and warm wishes to continue with his top notch research in coming years,” said Rajesh Gopakumar, Centre Director, ICTS-TIFR.
