The Academy citation says “Krishnamurthy has made outstanding, internationally well-known contributions to condensed matter theory, especially strong correlation physics, e.g.,  universal behaviour in quantum impurity physics, strong correlation phenomena in lattice models of fermions and bosons, theory of colossal magneto-resistance, and ab-initio density-functional and simulational studies of phase transitions in soft matter. Fellow of all science academies of India, he has consistently had the first rank in school and college, and has won the Ramanna Prize and the JC Bose National Fellowship.”
