ICTS faculty member Samriddhi Sankar Ray, together with ICTS associates Jason Picardo, Jeremie Bec and Dario Vincenzi, have been awarded a CEFIPRA (Indo-French) grant for their joint research.
This research addresses the multiscale, chaotic dynamics of turbulent polymer solutions with a focus on understanding how individual polymer molecules stretch, break-up, and modify the energetics and transport properties of the flow. The goal is to better explain and predict the intriguing effects of polymeric additives, which not only reduce turbulent drag in large pipelines but also enhance mixing in small microchannels.
