Airbus Group Corporate Foundation has entered into a partnership agreement with the TIFR Centre for Applicable Mathematics (TIFR-CAM) and the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR) to create an International teaching and research chair entitled “Mathematics of Complex Systems,” with the aim of developing innovative research involving theoretical, applied, and computational work related to mathematics of complex systems. Several attractive Prize Postdoctoral Fellowships are available under this program for which applications are invited for the 2017-2018 session. Fellows are expected to work closely with the research groups at ICTS and CAM in Bangalore, a highly cosmopolitan city, known as the garden city of India. Both centres provide stimulating intellectual atmosphere and state- of-the-art facilities for academic research. Fellows will have opportunity to interact with leading scientists from all over the world through collaborative visits, workshops and conferences, funded by the program. 

Eligibility

Applications are invited from highly motivated young scientists with proven track record. Candidates must have a PhD degree in mathematics, physics or engineering. Prior research experience in the specific areas mentioned above is recommended, but not essential.

Salary and benefits

The salary will be Rs. 60,000 per month and the fellows can also opt for free Institute accommodation or a house rent allowance of Rs. 15,000 per month. In addition, the fellows are eligible for ICTS accommodation (or housing allowance @30% of the honorarium). Fellows receive health insurance, travel support up to Rs. 200,000 per year and a research grant of Rs. 200,000 per year for computing services, publications, relocation, and other direct costs. The initial appointment will be for two years, with a possibility of extension up to three years. Renewal for the third year will depend on a comprehensive review of the scientific activity of the Fellow

  • The applicants also need to arrange at least three recommendation letters sent directly to the ICTS.

About ICTS

ICTS is a new initiative in Indian science, with a mandate to contribute to frontier research by providing a platform devoted to theoretical natural sciences and interdisciplinary and applied mathematics through its various programs.
