Area of Research:  Gravitational and Electromagnetic Transients from Binary Compact Mergers

My current research is focussed upon the physics of compact binary mergers involving neutron star and black holes mergers in a fully general realtivistic magnetized (GRMHD) case. I will also work on the gravitational and electromagnetic (EM) signatures from them and explore related open questions such as equation of state of high density matter and r-process events. I also work on binary WD mergers, their post-merger evolution, and the various endpoints of their final outcome, from Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), to failed Type Ia supernovae (SNe Iax). I use computational techniques to investigate the multi-dimensional hydrodynamical and magnetohydrodynamical evolution of these systems, and to compute the synthetic electromagnetic spectra and to investigate the transients associated with them.
