The multiple detections of gravitational waves (GW) from coalescence of binary black holes (BBH) by LIGO opens up a new window to do astronomy. Formation channels of BBH are poorly understood and depend on various unknown parameters. There are various astrophysical (population synthesis) models that predict different distributions of masses of BBH and their merger rates. I will discuss the possibility of distinguishing various population synthesis models from multiple GW observations, using Bayesian techniques.
