Abstract
The asymmetric simple exclusion process is a minimal model of interacting particles, that appears in many realistic descriptions of low-dimensional transport with constraints. The exact solutions obtained for this system have lead us to a better understanding of non-equilibrium behaviour. The aim of this colloquium is to review some representative results about this model, describe the methods involved and present some.
