ICTS Senior Professor and Dean (Research) Siva Athreya has been elected to the Council of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) for the three-year term 2027–2029. Athreya has been a Fellow of INSA since 2022.
Prof. Athreya’s research interests span probability theory and stochastic processes, with applications to areas including computational epidemiology and population biology.
Prof. Athreya has received several recognitions for his contributions to probability theory, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Mathematical Sciences in 2012. INSA has also selected him as a recipient of its Distinguished Lectures for 2025, recognising him as a leading probabilist in the country.
