ICTS founder Prof. Spenta Wadia was elected International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (AAA&S). The Academy’s President, David W. Oxtoby, and Chair of the Board of Directors, Goodwin H. Liu, announced the recognition.
“The AAA&S is one of the premier academies in the United States of America,” said Prof. Rajesh Gopakumar, Centre-Director, ICTS-TIFR. So, it is a special recognition for people outside the USA to be elected in it, he added.
Prof. Spenta Wadia’s main research interests are quantum field theory, statistical mechanics, string theory, and quantum gravity. His other scientific interests are in complex systems, including cross-disciplinary biology.
“I was surprised and happy to be invited to the membership of AAA&S, the oldest academy in the United States founded in 1780. I felt very honoured for the appreciation of my work and be part of a group of scientists many of whom I greatly admire,” said Spenta.
ICTS takes special pride in Spenta’s election and congratulates him for this recognition of his work. “On behalf of ICTS, I wish him many more productive years of research ahead and look forward to his wise counsel for ICTS as it grows,” said Rajesh.
