1. Library Trainee
Essential Qualification:
-
Graduate from recognised University/Institute (Science Preferable) and B. Lib. from a recognised University/Institute.
Freshers with relevant skills are preferred.
Nature of Training: The selected candidate will gain practical exposure to the daily operations and workflows of a scientific library. Training will include (but not be limited to) the following key areas:
Acquisition and technical processing of print and online resources.
Use of the Koha library management system.
RFID-based library services.
Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system.
Searching academic databases like Web of Science, MathSciNet, Inspire HEP, OpenAlex, etc.
After the training, the candidate will work closely with the Librarian, assisting with regular tasks and taking part in new projects and initiatives.

The above post is tenable at ICTS, Bangalore.

Appointment for the above post will be initially for 06 (six) months, which may be extended up to 01 (One) year depending upon the individual’s performance and the requirements of the Centre. The tenure, however, could be extended for another year if felt necessary after review and the requirements of the center.

This trainee scheme is purely a facility for on-job training provided to individuals. Selected candidate(s) will be required to join immediately. Trainees would not have any claim for any permanent or temporary appointment in the institute either during or after the training period.

Prescribed age and experience should not exceed as on 01 July 2025 for the above post. No age relaxations would be applicable for trainee posts.

The qualifications prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities/Institutions/Boards. In case Universities/Board award letter grades/CGPA/OGPA, the same will have to be indicated as an equivalent percentage of marks as per the norms adopted by the University/Board. In the absence of the same, the candidature will not be considered. -

Location: ICTS campus, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru (please report at the main security gate on arrival).

Leave: Entitlement of leave will be as per the Institute leave rules for Trainees.

The training period could be truncated for any reason with a notice of one month on either side.

The selection process will consist of a skill test (computer-based) and a written test. The qualifying marks (cut-off marks) should be 60% or more in the written test. Skill test will be of a qualifying nature i.e. Qualified/Not Qualified. The cut-off mark for the skill test is 60%. A merit list of candidates will be prepared based on marks in the written test.

Working hours for trainees shall be similar to the regular employees but they would have to work on Saturdays and holidays, as per the requirement of the department/section. They will not be eligible for any OT allowances.

Before applying for the post, the candidates should ensure that they fulfill the eligibility and other criteria. Recruitment authorities would be free to reject applications not fulfilling the requisite criteria at any stage of recruitment, and if erroneously appointed, such candidates shall be liable to be terminated from service if appointed.
