International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Agastya Foundation and Gyanome Foundation are partnering in projects that aim at promoting Math Awareness, Math Education and Outreach. This will mainly be done through content creation in Mathematics for Indian students and teachers, and establishing a Ramanujan Math Park at the Agastya Campus in Kuppam. Science Academies (Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), The National Academy of Sciences, India) will support summer internships for students and teachers interested in this program.
The initial focus is on the exhibits from the MPE-2013 exhibition at VITM.
For each MPE exhibit, the project aims at achieving the following:
- Create and improve upon the existing physical models
- Create supplementary reading material by expanding on the contents of the MPE booklet
- The applicants also have the chance to create new modules for the internationally renowned not for profit organisation Imaginary. The overall goal is to make the Ramanujan Math Park a global destination as a Math Outreach Centre.
Students (final UG and first year PG courses), Teachers from Science, Engineering and Design backgrounds with an interest and appreciation for Mathematics are encouraged to apply. The selected candidates will have a unique opportunity to interact with leading interdisciplinary group of mathematicians and Math Communicators. Accommodation costs will be subsidized and a stipend amount of Rs 10,000/- will be paid along with a Certificate of Participation and Appreciation from the above organizations after successful completion of the internship.
