The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (ICTS-TIFR), a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant-in-Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India), invites highly motivated and self-driven individuals for the following positions under the project “Turbulent dynamics and energy cascades of internal gravity waves.”
1.Postdoctoral Researcher
Number of positions: 01
Project: Turbulent dynamics and energy cascades of internal gravity waves
This project aims to identify the detailed pathways internal gravity waves take to go from large forcing scales to small dissipative scales. The research will be interdisciplinary in nature and will involve the usage of applied mathematical techniques, high resolution numerical simulations, and big data management. Direct numerical simulations and reduced model development will be pursued as part of this research.
Essential qualification:
PhD from a recognized university in Atmosphere-Ocean Science/Applied and Computational Mathematics/Engineering/Physics/or similar related disciplines.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
-
Experience working with high resolution numerical simulations in HPC environments along with big data management.
-
A solid foundation in fluid dynamics, geophysical fluid dynamics, physical oceanography, or related disciplines.
-
Published papers in refereed journals focusing on atmosphere-ocean-climate, fluid dynamics, applied and computational mathematics, or related disciplines.
