AREA OF RESEARCH:  Twentieth Century History of Science and Technology; Science and the State; Public Engagement with Science; and Public Humanities.

Jahnavi Phalkey is a filmmaker and historian of science and technology. 

Formerly at King's College London, she is now the Founding Director of Science Gallery Bengaluru. Jahnavi was awarded the Infosys Prize in the Humanities (2023).

Jahnavi was in the first cohort of Junior Research Fellows at Imperial College London (2009-2011). She has been a Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (2013-14) following which she was on secondment to the Science Museum London as an external curator (2013-2015). She is the author of Atomic State: Big Science in Twentieth Century India (2013) and has co- edited Science of Giants: China and India in the Twentieth Century (2016). She is the director - producer of the documentary film Cyclotron (2020).

Jahnavi is the Editor of the British Journal for the History of Science -Themes and South Asian Studies; She is also on the editorial board for History and Technology and Indian Politics and Policy.
