Abstract
In this talk, we provide evidence that the poles of non-cuspidal Eisenstein series $E_P(s, \varphi)$ in the region $\text{Re}(s) > 0$ are related to the highest weights occurring in the decomposition of the $\text{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$ representation on $\text{Lie}(\hat{N})$ induced by the corresponding Arthur parameter, by determining the poles of the unramified degenerate Eisenstein series $E_P(s, \varphi = 1)$ using a straightforward global argument.
